The Annual Meeting of Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative took place on June 12, 2024, where members re-elected the following Ed Crawford (District 5) and Tim Phillips (District 1), and newly elected board member Max Rader (District 4). The meeting also addressed updates to the cooperative's Code of Regulations.
Several changes to the Code were proposed and passed, including the removal of membership certificates, which were deemed unnecessary and created administrative burdens. The service area definition was also updated to better clarify eligibility for membership. The term limits for board members were extended from four to five terms, allowing for more continuity and retaining knowledge and investment in the trustees. Additionally, changes were made to uncontested election procedures, officer descriptions, and capital credit notifications.
The changes aim to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and make it easier for members to claim unreimbursed capital credits. The updates will help the cooperative better serve its members and improve its overall operations.
