Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative Awards Over 12,000 in Scholarships

NORTH BALTIMORE, OHIO –The Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative scholarship committee is pleased to announce the following recipients: First place Sydney Swisher, Findlay High School; second place Vanessa Heck, Liberty-Benton High School; third place Taelor Miller, Pandora-Gilboa High School; fourth place David Borkosky, Riverdale High School; fifth place William Seedorf, Patrick Henry High School; sixth place Kennedy O’Dell, Findlay High School; and seventh place Marissa Maag, Ottawa-Glandorf High School. 

Each summer, Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative sponsors two students on an annual Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. The selected winners will receive a $500 scholarship in addition to the trip. Students can learn about our nation’s Capital, the government and rural electric cooperatives while seeing the historic and cultural sights of the Washington, D.C. area. Youth Tour winners are Lauren Brooks Elmwood High School and Grant Rider home-schooled.

Concern for the community is one of Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative’s seven cooperative principles and giving back to the children of our members is one way we display this principle. Students are selected based on their academics, cooperative knowledge, and community involvement.
